In search of the best Link Building techniques
I’ve been thinking a lot about giving link building a shot lately, to create a few backlinks and achieve a good ranking since I’ll be promoting quite a few free wordpress themes on my site, plus me intending to be a regular blogger, link building has become a must do for me.
If you’re a member of a forum like DigitalPoint, you probable have heard the rumors about how Link Building was becoming more and more useless as google had started to ignore backlinks when it determined a site’s Ranking. Well, I’m not gonna try and hit back at the people that were saying that, but personally I think Link Building is and always will be one of the few best techniques to improve your pagerank. How the hell are you gonna determine a site’s Ranking any other way? By how much page-views a site gets per day? Or how many pages a site has? Or by a site’s earnings per week? Or by how much a site’s paying google? Nah…I don’t think so.
So, if you’re trying improve your Ranking and market your site at the same time, you might want to try the following techniques. I didn’t invent them though, well, there some of them I did come up with, but the rest was found on various sites while I was doing some research on Link Building.
1. Try to come up with interesting and funny posts, if you can’t blog, find a funny news, idiotic stunt video, or stories about how someone’s million dollar trick backfired and post them on your blog and then submit to sites like Digg.
2. Create a few 10 easy tips to help you [insert topic here] articles. And submit them to bookmarking sites like Del.ici.us.
3. Have an about section so your site seems more trustworthy. Including a picture of yourself may also help build your authority.
4. Write about, and link to, companies with "in the news" pages. They link back to stories and blog posts which cover their developments. This is obviously easiest if you have a news section or blog. Do a Google search for [your industry + "in the news"].
5. Tag related sites on sites like Del.icio.us. If people find the sites you tag to be interesting, emotionally engaging, or timely they may follow the trail back to your site.
6. If you’ve found something interesting on someone else’s site and you want to mention it on your blog, never forget to send a trackback to the other site. This way the owner of that blog know about your site, PLUS you appear on the comment page of the owner’s blog, which means you’ve got yourself a backlink.
7. If you visit a lot of blogs and most of them are relevant to your site, don’t forget to leave a nice and unique comment, something that people will notice, that way you as well as your site gets some attention from the people that visits the site, plus you get a backlink.
8. Another great way to get some backlinks and also get relevant targeted traffic is joining forums that are relevant to your sites theme and those that allow a backlink in the signature. Add helpful and meaningful posts, answer other members questions in these forums, participate in a genuine manner and not only will you get a powerful backlink, which will also increase your web site traffic
9. Write a press release and submit them to PR sites if you really have some good contents on your site, but before you do, visit PRWeb - How to Write a Press Release if you don’t want to make a fool out of yourself.
This method is not only great for link building but great for website promotion as well.
